Chief Investment Officer

Matthew Service joined Pioneer Lines in October 2021 as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. In this role, Mr. Service led mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and had oversight of the expansion of Pioneer’s assets, geographical presence, and service offerings. Mr. Service was promoted to Chief Investment Officer in March 2022.

Mr. Service has extensive short line and Class 1 rail experience. Prior to joining Pioneer, Mr. Service served as the Chief Operating Officer for Patriot Rail and Ports where he had oversight responsibility for the company’s network of 23 operating assets across the U.S and led M&A for the company. While with Patriot, he also served as Vice President of Transportation and Vice President of Operations.

Mr. Service began his rail career at OmniTRAX, Inc, where he held operational and supervisory positions in Colorado, Canada and Florida. He transitioned from short line to Class I operations in 2011 when he joined CSX Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida.  While with CSX, Mr. Service held roles including Director of Transportation Training, Terminal Assistant Superintendent, and Manager of Terminal Improvements.

Mr. Service received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Finance from the University of Mississippi.
